I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home where I learned about Jesus from an early age. At five years old, I trusted Christ as my Savior, and at seven, God placed a burden on my heart to preach His Word. During high school, I was discipled by evangelist Steve Harney and trained in children\u2019s ministry. After Ashley and I were married, God began leading us toward missions, giving us a desire to take the gospel to people who have never heard it. Serving Christ in Taiwan is not a sacrifice\u2014it is a privilege.<\/p>\n

Ashley<\/h4>\n

I grew up in a christian home. My parents were faithful to bring me to church every time the doors were open. It was there when I was eight years old that I realized my need for Christ and asked him to forgive me of my sins. As I got older, The Lord burdened my heart to give all of my life to Him. As a teenager, I remember coming to Him broken and telling Him that my life was His. He later brought Adam into my life and now we both serve The Lord in Taiwan with our children. <\/p>\n

What the Lord Has Done in Taiwan<\/h2>\n

Over the past three years, the Lord has been building Candlestick Baptist Church in Taichung, Taiwan. What began as a small Bible study in our apartment has grown into a church family committed to loving Jesus Christ, studying His Word, and reaching others with the gospel. Week after week, we have had the privilege of opening the Scriptures with people who had little or no understanding of the Bible and watching God transform lives through His Word.<\/p>\n

One of our greatest joys has been seeing new believers grow in their faith and begin serving the Lord. God has also been faithful to raise up leaders from within the church. A young man named Vision trusted Christ, was baptized, and has been faithfully trained for ministry. While we are on furlough, he is leading the church under our guidance as he continues preparing for future pastoral ministry.<\/p>\n

We are thankful for all that the Lord has done, but we believe this is only the beginning. Our prayer is to see more people come to know Christ, more churches planted throughout Taiwan, and more faithful Taiwanese men equipped to proclaim God\u2019s Word for generations to come.<\/p>\n

In addition to our weekly church services, the Lord has opened doors through Bible studies, English outreach, children\u2019s ministries, and community events, allowing us to build relationships and share the hope of the gospel with people throughout our city.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Meet Vision<\/h2>

When Ashley and I first arrived in Taiwan, I began studying Mandarin Chinese at language school. One of my teachers was a young man whose English name is Vision. At the time, I had no idea that God was beginning a work that would forever change both of our lives.
Vision was my eighth language teacher, and after a few months of getting to know one another, we began meeting outside of class to read the Bible together. For three months, we carefully studied God\u2019s Word, asked questions, and talked about who Jesus is and what He had done. Through the truth of Scripture, God opened Vision\u2019s heart, and he placed his faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Shortly afterward, he publicly professed his faith through believer\u2019s baptism.
As Vision grew in his faith, he began expressing a burden to share the gospel with his own people. He asked if I would train him to preach and teach God\u2019s Word. Since then, it has been one of our greatest joys to disciple him as he continues preparing for pastoral ministry.
Following Christ has not been easy. Many of his friends have turned away from him. Some have told him that he is \u201cno longer Taiwanese\u201d because of his faith in Christ. Even his own mother told him that he was no longer her son. Yet through every hardship, God has remained faithful. Vision\u2019s joy is not found in the approval of others but in the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
Today, while our family is on furlough in the United States, Vision is faithfully leading Candlestick Baptist Church in Taiwan. I have known Adam Walz since he was 10 years old. I have watched him grow both physically and in his love for the things of God. From the first time I saw him on stage at a youth camp using his talents for his peers; I have known that God has something special for this young man.<\/p>\n

At age 16 I invited Adam to come and travel with Cool Kids Ministries during our summer internship program. Adam showed such a love for the things of God and for reaching children and parents with the talents he has been given. In 2015 I asked Adam to become a full-time part of Cool Kids Ministries and when he and Ashley married her presence only enhanced their ministry. As much as we hate to see them leave our ministry, it is always a joy to watch people grow in their faith, walk, and love for God and the ministry. It is without reservation that I can recommend Adam and Ashley Walz to you and your church. They are not only gifted, but they have a desire to see souls saved and a desire to train others to walk and live for God. You will not go wrong having them as part of your missions ministry.<\/p>\n
