But Flesh

“But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭78:38-39‬ ‭

When I think of how good God is, I can’t help but smile. My God is “Full of compassion.” He “forgave my iniquity”. And one of the greatest things He ever did was turn his anger away from me and poured it out on His Son. What an amazing God I have!

When I start to live life the way I want, this is how the Lord sees it. “But flesh”. A wind that passes away and doesn’t return. What am I doing with this flesh that I have been given?

I know that what the Lord does will last forever.. but my flesh? What I do? It’s a breath of air. A wind that blows and doesn’t return. What am I doing for Christ that will last for eternity?

Cars, jobs, money, sports, entertainment, fun; all these are not bad, but they will “blow away”. But souls. Your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and random people on the street…. their souls are for eternity.

You want to do something that will last forever? Consider the work of God. Do what you were created to do. Tell these souls of Who Christ is! For His work is for eternity! Yours, is “but flesh”.
