They are watching you
2 Samuel 12:13-14 – And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
As I read this passage, I was reminded of two things. 1. The Goodness of our God, and 2. What happens when I fail my God.
1. After David was told of his sin, said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord,” But did you read what was said after that? “The Lord has already put away your sin.” In other words, “He has already forgiven you.” What a truly wonderful God we serve!
2. Sadly still, there are still consequences for our actions. But what should hurt us more than our punishment, is what our sin does to God!
(14) “Because by this deed thou has given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme.”
This world is watching us (Believers in Christ). When we fall into sin, we give the world a reason to laugh at our God! Does that bother you? It bothers me. To know that I have been a reason for people making fun of my Lord is heart breaking.
My Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for Your goodness to me. You have been so good although I have never ever deserved it. Father, I ask you to forgive me of the times I have caused this world to laugh at you. Make me a servant of you, that when the world looks on me, they only see you. Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen
